Color of Water Analysis free essay sample
Her dad didn't adore her mom, her mom experienced polio; she was obnoxiously mishandled at school for being Jewish, and truly manhandled by her dad. When she could, Ruth started to get her past behind her. She moved to New York, changed over to Christianity, and wedded a dark man. The other portion of the book is the memoir of the writer James McBride. James was one of twelve youngsters and in light of that his youth was brimming with mayhem. However his mom monitored the youngsters by ingraining the significance of chapel and school into their brains. During his adolescent years, James began defying his mom by playing hooky and consuming medications and liquor. Be that as it may, before graduating secondary school, he chooses to turn his life around. Subsequent to doing that, he went to Oberlin College then Columbia University. As a grown-up, James filled in as a columnist for some magazines and papers, however he additionally began revealing his motherââ¬â¢s past in light of the fact that she had stayed quiet about it to every one of her kids. During his young years, James began opposing his mom by playing hooky and ingesting medications and liquor. Be that as it may, before graduating secondary school, he chooses to turn his life around. Subsequent to doing that, he went to Oberlin College then Columbia University. As a grown-up, James filled in as a writer for some magazines and papers, however he additionally began revealing his motherââ¬â¢s past in light of the fact that she had stayed quiet about it to every one of her kids. By revealing his motherââ¬â¢s past, James had the option to manufacture a much more profound relationship with her. While perusing this book, it was difficult to contrast it with whatever else as a result of its innovation. An anecdote about an old, white woman dealing with twelve dark kids; there is practically not at all like that! In spite of the fact that the idea of delving into someoneââ¬â¢s past and in doing so increasing a profound regard for them approaches the film Hugo. Hugo is about a vagrant kid who lives in the dividers of a Paris railroad station. As Hugo fixes tickers and fabricates machines, he starts revealing reality with regards to a cantankerous, old toymaker who works at the train station. Hugo finds that the toymaker was really a splendid producer, yet after World War II, individuals lost enthusiasm for his motion pictures and to evade liquidation, the toymaker needed to consume all his film into synthetic compounds. The toymaker was spooky by his past and gotten the past behind him and needed nothing to do with it, much the same as Ruth McBride. Be that as it may, similarly as James gets his mom to confront her past, and in doing so causes her deals with her past, so does Hugo with the toymaker. By demonstrating the toymaker a portion of his motion pictures that were not annihilated, and getting him to discuss his past, the toymaker deals with his past and recollects the delight of creative mind. James gets a comparative outcome from his mom as he gets her to open up about her past and venture into a place of worship for some other time. Hugo was then ready to rethink the toymaker and it helped Hugo manufacture a profound regard for the toymaker. The best part about the book and what kept it so captivating, was that it had the option to communicate some significant and general topics. One line that stands apart is when James says, ââ¬Å"The most prominent blessing that anybody can give any other individual is life. The best sin an individual can do to another is to remove that life (McBride 229). â⬠These words accentuate the possibility that our life is the most holy thing we have. James had the option to give his mom the endowment of life by helping her deal with a piece of her life that she decided to cover. This instructs us that we should prize the great and the terrible parts of our life since when we lose our life, we lose the most significant thing we have. ââ¬Å"God is the shade of water. Water doesnââ¬â¢t have a shading (McBride 51). This statement from the book reveals a focal subject and plotline from the book. Regardless of your race, religion, or sexual orientation, God adores all us of and speaks to each and every one us. This is essential to know since James is the child of a white woman, however he and his kin are for the most part dark. In view of this James grows up confounded about his race and religion, however his mom would consistently reveal to him that since God is the shade of water, he cherishes all the individuals on the planet, regardless of what shading their skin is.

Overview of The Seven Years War (1756 - 63)
Diagram of The Seven Years War (1756 - 63) In Europe, the Seven Years War was battled between a collusion of France, Russia, Sweden, Austria and Saxony against Prussia, Hanover and Great Britain from 1756 - 63. In any case, the war had a global component, especially as Britain and France battled for control of North America and India. All things considered, it has been known as the first ââ¬Ëworld warââ¬â¢. The venue in North America is known as the ââ¬ËFrench Indianââ¬â¢ war, and in German,y the Seven Years War has been known as the ââ¬ËThird Silesian Warââ¬â¢. It is remarkable for the undertakings of Frederick the Great, a man whose major early victories and later relentlessness were coordinated by one of the most mind blowing bits of karma ever to end a significant clash ever (that bit is on page two). Birthplaces: The Diplomatic Revolution The Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle finished the War of the Austrian Succession in 1748, however to many, it was just a peace negotiation, an impermanent stop to the war. Austria had lost Silesia to Prussia, and resented both Prussia â⬠for taking the well off land â⬠and her own partners for not ensuring it was returned. She fired weighing up her unions and searching out other options. Russia became stressed over the developing intensity of Prussia, and pondered about pursuing a ââ¬Ëpreventativeââ¬â¢ war to stop them. Prussia, satisfied at having picked up Silesia, trusted it would take another war to keep it, and planned to acquire an area during it. During the 1750s, as strains rose in North America among British and French settlers going after a similar land, Britain acted to attempt to forestall the following war destabilizing Europe by modifying its collusions. These activities, and a difference in heart by Frederick II of Prussia â⬠referred to by his numerous later admirers as ââ¬Ëthe Greatââ¬â¢ â⬠activated what has been known as the ââ¬ËDiplomatic Revolutionââ¬â¢, as the past arrangement of partnerships separated and another one supplanted it, with Austria, France and Russia united against Britain, Prussia and Hanover. Europe: Frederick Gets His Retaliation in First In May 1756, Britain and France authoritatively did battle, activated by French assaults on Minorca; the ongoing settlements halted different countries being sucked in to help. Be that as it may, with the new coalitions set up, Austria was ready to strike and take Silesia back, and Russia was arranging a comparative activity, so Frederick II of Prussia â⬠mindful of the plotting â⬠started struggle trying to increase a favorable position. He needed to crush Austria before France and Russia could assemble; he likewise needed to hold onto more land. Frederick in this way assaulted Saxony in August 1756 to attempt to break its collusion with Austria, hold onto its assets and set up his arranged 1757 crusade. He took the capital, tolerating their acquiescence, fusing their soldiers and draining gigantic assets out of the state. Prussian powers at that point progressed into Bohemia, however couldn't win the triumph that would keep them there and they withdrew to Saxony. They progressed back again in mid 1757, winning the skirmish of Prague on May 6, 1757, thanks in no little part to Frederickââ¬â¢s subordinates. Nonetheless, the Austrian armed force had withdrawn into Prague, which Prussia blockaded. Fortunately for the Austrians, Frederick was crushed on June eighteenth by a help power at the Battle of Kolin and compelled to withdraw out of Bohemia. Europe: Prussia Under Attack Prussia currently gave off an impression of being assaulted from all sides, as a French power crushed the Hanoverians under an English general â⬠the King of England was additionally the King of Hanover â⬠involved Hanover and walked to Prussia, while Russia rolled in from the East and vanquished different Prussians, despite the fact that they followed this up by withdrawing and just involved East Prussia the following January. Austria proceeded onward Silesia and Sweden, new to the Franco-Russo-Austrian coalition, additionally assaulted. For some time Frederick sank into self indulgence, yet reacted with a showcase of apparently splendid generalship, vanquishing a Franco-German armed force at Rossbach on November fifth, and an Austrian one at Leuthenon December fifth; the two of which had dwarfed him significantly. Neither one of the victories was sufficient to drive an Austrian (or French) give up. Starting now and into the foreseeable future the French would focus on a resurgent Hanover, and never battled Frederick again, while he moved rapidly, crushing one foe armed force and afterward another before they could adequately collaborate, utilizing his favorable position of shorter, inner lines of development. Austria soon learnt not to battle Prussia in the huge, open regions which supported Prussiaââ¬â¢s predominant development, in spite of the fact that this was continually decreased by losses. England started to bother the French coast to attempt to draw troops away, while Prussia pushed the Swedes out. Europe: Victories and Defeats The British overlooked the acquiescence of their past Hanoverian armed force and came back to the district, purpose on keeping France under control. This new armed force was instructed by a nearby partner of Frederickââ¬â¢s (his brother by marriage) and kept French powers occupied in the west and away from both Prussia and the French provinces. They won the clash of Minden in 1759, and made a progression of key moves to tie up the foe armed forces, in spite of the fact that were compelled by sending fortifications to Frederick. Frederick assaulted Austria, however was outsmarted during an attack and compelled to withdraw into Silesia. He at that point battled a draw with the Russians at Zorndorf, yet took substantial losses (33% of his military); he was then beaten by Austria at Hochkirch, losing a third once more. Before the year's over he had freed Prussia and Silesia from adversary armed forces, however was extraordinarily debilitated, incapable to seek after any longer excellent offensives; Austria was carefully satisfied. At this point, all belligerents had spent tremendous wholes. Frederick was purchased to fight again at Battle of Kunersdorf in August 1759, yet was vigorously crushed by an Austro-Russian armed force. He lost 40% of the soldiers present, in spite of the fact that he figured out how to keep the rest of his military in activity. On account of Austrian and Russian alert, postponements and differences, their preferred position was not squeezed and Frederick abstained from being compelled to give up. In 1760 Frederick flopped in another attack, however won minor triumphs against the Austrians, in spite of the fact that at Torgau he won due to his subordinates as opposed to anything he did. France, with some Austrian help, attempted to push for harmony. Before the finish of 1761, with adversaries wintering on Prussian land, things were going gravely for Frederick, whose once exceptionally prepared armed force was presently built out with hurriedly accumulated volunteers, and whose numbers where well underneath those of the foe armed forces. Frederick was progressively incapable to play out the walks and outflankings which had gotten him achievement, and was on edge. Had Frederickââ¬â¢s adversaries conquered their appearing powerlessness to co-ordinate â⬠on account of xenophobia, loathe, disarray, class contrasts and that's only the tip of the iceberg - Frederick may as of now have been beaten. In charge of just a piece of Prussia, Frederickââ¬â¢s endeavors looked damned, in spite of Austria being in an edgy budgetary position. Europe: Death as Prussian Savior Frederick sought after a supernatural occurrence, and he got one. The inflexibly hostile to Prussian Tsarina of Russia kicked the bucket, to be prevailing by Tsar Peter III. He was ideal for Prussia and made quick harmony, sending troops to support Frederick. Despite the fact that Peter was killed rapidly subsequently â⬠not before attempting to attack Denmark â⬠the new Tsar â⬠Peterââ¬â¢s spouse, Catherine the Great â⬠kept the harmony understandings, in spite of the fact that she pulled back Russian soldiers which had been helping Frederick. This liberated Frederick to win more commitment against Austria. England took the risk to end their partnership with Prussia â⬠on account of common unfriendliness among Frederick and Britainââ¬â¢s new Prime Minister-proclaiming war on Spain and assaulting their Empire. Spain attacked Portugal, yet were stopped with British guide. The Global War Albeit British soldiers fought on the landmass, gradually expanding in numbers, the Britain had wanted to send money related help to Frederick and Hanover â⬠appropriations bigger than any before in British history â⬠as opposed to battle in Europe. This was so as to send troops and ships somewhere else on the planet. The British had been engaged with battling in North America since 1754, and the administration under William Pitt chose to additionally organize the war in America, and hit the remainder of Franceââ¬â¢s supreme belongings, utilizing their ground-breaking naval force to pester France where she was most vulnerable. Interestingly, France concentrated on Europe first, arranging an intrusion of Britain, however this chance was finished by the Battle of Quiberon Bay in 1759, breaking Franceââ¬â¢s staying Atlantic maritime force and their capacity to fortify America. Britain had successfully won the ââ¬ËFrench-Indianââ¬â¢ war in North America by 1760, however harmony there needed to hold up until different auditoriums were settled. In 1759 a little, pioneering British power had held onto Fort Louis on the Senegal River in Africa, procuring a lot of assets and enduring no losses. Thusly, before the year's over, all French exchanging posts Africa were British. England at that point assaulted France in the West Indies, taking the rich island of Guadeloupe and proceeding onward to other riches creating targets. The British East India Company fought back against a nearby pioneer and assaulted French interests in India and, helped enormously by the British Royal Navy ruling the Indian Ocean as it had the Atlantic, catapulted France from the territory. By warââ¬â¢s end, Britain had an immeasurably expanded Empire, France a much decreased one. England and Spain likewise did battle, and Britain stunned their new foe by holding onto the center of their Caribbean tasks, Havana, and a quarter

Your Utilities Were Cut Off ... Now What
Your Utilities Were Cut Off ... Now What So Your Utilities Were Cut Off Now What? So Your Utilities Were Cut Off Now What?Unless it happened totally by accident, having your utilities cut off is probably a symptom of larger issues with how you manage your money. The winds of winter may get cold, but there are few things nicer than being inside and warm as the frightful weather rages outside. Just close your eyes and imagine it. Or, rather, open them so you can keep reading, but imagine it anyway:Youâre sitting in a big comfy chair. Youâre holding a giant mug of hot cocoa with little marshmallows, and itâs warming your hands but itâs not so hot that you canât drink it comfortably. The TV is playing a calming Christmas movie. Something about a businessman who never spent time with his family and then he was hit by a car but an angel let him relive his last week on Earth. Now he can spend more time with his family, but at the end of that week, heâs still going to die. But⦠come on⦠you know heâs going to end up getting to live somehow and theyâll all have a happy ending just in time for Christmas.Yet, as that happy ending is approaching, the TV shuts off, along with the heating and lights.Your utilities have been cut! Now what?! Figure out if it was a mistake. If you knew you werenât going to be able to pay your utility bills, you probably should have done something earlier. But weâll get to that later. For now, letâs assume this came out of nowhere. You had sent in the check or had autopay set up but something went wrong somewhere because one or more of your utilities are not present. Now itâs time to do some detective work.âThe first thing to do is call your power or water company to see if it was a mistake,â advised Sophie Kaemmerle, Communications Manager for NeighborWho (@UseNeighborWho). âIf it happened due to failure to pay your bill, ask for an extension until you can get what you may be short on, or simply pay it right away if you just forgot.âIf it was a mistake, youâre going to have to give the u tility company a stern talking to. Or a polite, but firm talking to that makes clear you need those utilities back.âIf our utilities get cut off mistakenly, the immediate priority is to get service restored to minimize disruption to ourselves and any other family or friends living with us,â explained finance writer and Middle Class Dad Jeff Campbell (@middleclassdad1). âWhile its rare for utilities to get cut off truly through no fault of the resident, it can happen.ââWhile you can call or live chat with some providers, assuming they mistakenly applied your payment to someone elses account,â said Campbell, âyour best strategy is to go to the utility company in person and ideally pull up your banks payment system on your phone (since you presumably wont be able to print anything at home) and show that the payment cleared your bank. If you paid in cash in person, simply show the receipt for the payment.âAnd if it wasnât a mistake â¦Even if you know youâre going to come up short on a utility bill, it could still be worth trying to reach out to the company.âThe best thing to do if you utilities get cut off is to contact organizations that help with utilities,â advised life coach Katrina Mckissick. âThey may be able to help pay all or a portion of the bill to restore your utilities.ââIt is always wise to call the electric company before its due to cut off and make payment arrangements. Most electric companies offer that but it has to be done before the service is disconnected.ââIf they get cut off because you werenât able to pay them, still call the utility company and explain that you werenât able to pay them,â suggested financial coach and author Karen Ford. âAsk them what you can do to get them turned back on.ââMany times, when this question is asked, the company may not require the entire bill be paid, but a partial payment or partial payments to be paid are set up. Kindness will go a long way with them.âIn the meantime â¦If the utilities arenât switched back on immediately and you donât have another place to stay, youâre going to have to find ways to cope until they come back.Kaemmerle offered some tips for roughing it without certain utilities: âKeep lots of bottled water on hand for drinking and bathing. Be sure to have enough for each person in the household to have two gallons per day for at least a week. Wipes and bar soap will help with being able to wash as well. Have a stockpile of non-perishable foods that wonât need to be kept cold or cooked before being eaten.âPurchase a portable charger for necessary electronics, such as phones or computers. Make sure you keep it charged and check that it still works periodically. If your lights go out, grab some battery powered lanterns or candles. Just be very careful where you place them so a fire does not burn down your home.âTo keep the food in your fridge from spoiling; get a good quality cooler or a small, portable genera tor to run it on. If you need to use up your food quickly because you have no cooler, you can cook it on an outdoor grill, or inside on a portable butane stove. Eat the food that will go bad the quickest first, and then move on to non-perishables to have as little waste as possible.âAnd the next time â¦If youâve ever been worried about missing a utility bill, there are steps you can and should take to try to prevent that from happening, either again or for the first time.âSome tips to keep you from forgetting is to set a reminder a week before the due date, so you are aware of it,â Kaemmerle told us. âIt will also help to set aside a fraction of the bill each time you get paid between bills.ââFor example, four checks a month would need one-quarter of the bill set aside per check so you will have the full amount already saved when needed. Another helpful tip if you tend to be forgetful is to set up automatic payments for your utility bills.âCampbell offered his own t ake: âUtilities getting cut off due to lack of payment is overall indicative of a larger financial problem. You need to first get on a written monthly budget and really scrutinize and prioritize how your money gets allocated.ââUtilities would obviously be at the top of the list along with rent or mortgage and food. Cut all unnecessary expenses while you get your budget going. Money problems, aside from being created by not having a plan (ie: budget) are the product of either an income problem, a spending problem, a debt problem, or a combination of all three.ââIts often hard to figure out what to focus on until you have a budget,â he said. âThen you can determine which of those three areas needs the most improvement and you can begin to make a plan for that.âLosing access to your utilities is never fun. But with proper preparation, it hopefully wonât happen to you!One thing you definitely shouldnât do when your utilities get cut off is to take out a predatory no credit check loan or short-term bad credit loan (think payday loans, cash advances, and title loans) in order to pay your bill. Mexican Independence - 1279 Words
Mexican Independence In New Spain, the Bourbon monarchies in 1808-1810 encouraged some creoles leaders to strike for total independence under the cover of Ferdinand. On July 1808, Napoleonââ¬â¢s capture of Charles the VI and Ferdinand the VII, and capture of Spain reached Mexico causing intense debate between Mexican elites. Creoles and Peninsulars prepared to take power and ensure their group would have power over the other; New Spain, like other Spanish colonies, went through the crisis of the Bourbon monarchy from 1808- 1810. Yet, in Mexico what pushed for independence from Spain would be the eliteââ¬â¢s race for power. The creoles were the first to take action. After ten years of civil war and the death of two of its founders, by early 1820 the independence movement was stalemated and close to collapse. The rebels faced stiff Spanish military resistance and the apathy of many of the most influential criollos. The violent excesses and populist zeal of Hidalgo s and Morelos s irregular armies had reinforced many criollos fears of race and class warfare, ensuring their grudging acquiescence to conservative Spanish rule until a less bloody path to independence could be found. ABSTRACT Marker is a part of a paper on which the patterns ofà all parts of the garments are drawn so that garments can be made by using minimum quantity of fabric. Reducing the quantity means that maker is being made efficient so that fabric wastage can be reduced as much as possible. There are two methods of marker making, the first one is manually in which a specialized marker maker makes the makers and try to utilize all the fabric so that another piece of fabric is not required. The other method is computerized method called Gerber Technology. In it the markers are made in computers and the efficiency is set by computer to decrease the fabric wastage. Saving the fabric is crucial because is decrease the average cost so that profit maximization can occur. After conducting experiments the best method for increasing the marker efficiency is Gerber (computerized). It makes the most efficient markers which decreases the wastage of fabric. This saves the cost and benefits the garment manufactures as they can make several pieces (patterns) out of less fabric. INTRODUCTION In recent years the number of markers required by apparel manufacturers has escalated disproportionately to growth. Orders are getting smaller, the number of different styles is increasing, and lead times are getting shorterà ââ¬â all of which put more pressure on the marker making department. So it is no surprise that new automated marker making tools are being launched onto the market. Niki Tait takes a look. The improved fabric utilisation associated with computerised marker making has helped this technology virtually take over from traditional manual methods over the last 25 to 30 years. With fabric accounting for around 50 per cent of the ex-factory cost of a garment (more than 70 per cent in low cost labour countries), the 5 per cent saving associated with automated systems is key. In reality these marker making tools are ââ¬Ëcomputer assistedââ¬â¢ rather than ââ¬Ëcomputerised,ââ¬â¢ with the skill of piece placement still relying on the experience of the marker maker. The computer plays a passive role, controlling the nesting constraints such as tilting, rotation and buffering while the operator makes all the decisions. An experienced marker maker will remember combinations which have worked before, he can see what part might fit into which slot, and he knows what he can tilt slightly off gain to fit. In the last few years, however, CAD companies and research organisations throughout the world have been working to develop systems to produce markers fully automatically. Itââ¬â¢s an extremely complex process given all the possible combinations of pattern part placements within a lay, and one that only becomes worthwhile if the material utilisation matches that produced by a skilled marker maker using conventional computer systems. It is only now becoming a viable option as the costs of high speed processing power and memory come down and software developments catch up. But for manufacturers the timing is a happy one as the number of markers ââ¬â and cost of making them ââ¬â has escalated disproportionately to growth. Orders are getting smaller, the number of different styles is increasing, and lead times are getting shorter ââ¬â all of which put more pressure on the marker making department. With automatic marker making a series of parameters can be set. These include: produce the best possible solution in 30 minutes; try different combinations until a minimum of 91 per cent fabric utilisation is achieved; find the best combination within 500 tries etc. The system can be left to work through a batch of instructions unattended both day and night, so time constraints become less of an issue. With most automated systems, however, there is also the ability to combine human intervention within the automated process. Most CAD companies agree this provides for the best solution, particularly where the marker is going to be used for many repeats, on deep, long lays or where expensive fabrics are going to be cut. OBJECTIVES This research has several objectives which are beneficiary for number of reasons. The first objective of this research is to increase the production per hour by increasing the efficiency. Efficiency is directly related to production because if the marker is efficient, it can be easily layed out on he large bundles of fabric. Another objective is to increase the efficiency of the garment, when the marker made is good, the efficiency will increase and overall quality of the garment will be improved. It will also decrease the waste produced by the cutting department since with marker making technology, fabric will be properly utilized. One more major objective is to meet the international quality standards like for example ISO and etc. The objective goal of 83% percent efficiency which is the best in industries currently has to be met. This efficiency had to be tested on manual and computerized in order to find which gives the more efficiency and saves the fabric. You read "Reduce the Cost of Marker Making" in category "Essay examples" SCOPE OF THE THIS RESEARCH One of the benefits of finding the efficiency was that the apparel industries require less labour to produce the garmants. The turnaround time of maker making is faster if done all at one time and pricewise, it will cost less money to manufacture a garment in apparel industries just by paying a flat rate for the whole process versus paying regular prize for each individual job. The markers can be fully customized to fit any costumerââ¬â¢s designing needs and are offered to apparel companies, Professional business people, Artists, People with new design inventions, young designers trying to launch for the first time a collection and people inà general who want to create a small clothing line to sell their designs on an online website store. Turn around time for most jobs done through marker making is faster than making each individual pattern made separately. An efficient marker coordinates and organizes all the work flow to be done for the costumer and spends a great deal of time explaining each little detail of the design process to its design team who will be in charge and responsible for the completion of a given project. Pricewise, making a garment through 83 percent efficient computerized marker will cost a lot less money versus paying five to ten thousand rupees for the making each single pattern by hand. This amount of money is often spend by manufacturing companies who have the obligation of aying all the salaries of their design team which can add up to thousands of rupees every week not forgetting the fact that paying regular prize for each individual pattern will always be more expensive than paying a flat rate for all the work to be done. In addition an efficient maker has many advantages, one of them is the ability to create many pattern and lay them on several fabrics in one location. This requires less space and the compan y can save its lot of space. Turnaround time for all pattern to be made are faster if done all at one time. LITERATURE REVIEW For industrial garments preparation, marker making is a very important chapter for highest usage of fabric and for lowest wastage of fabric. This is a process which is performed to draw the pattern pieces on the fabric before cutting. This may be done by drawing the pattern pieces on the fabric directly or by drawing the pattern pieces on a thin marker paper and then placement the paper onto the fabric lay. So, we can define the marker as bellow. Marker is a thin paper which contains all necessary pattern pieces for all sizes for a particular style of garments in such a way that, fabric wastage would be least. The representation or drawing of the arrangement of identified garment pattern relevant to the cutting of a batch material. The marker is placed on the material and provides guideline for cutting. Marker may be on fabric or held in computer data files. Marker width is equal to the minimum fabric width and its length depends on the no of pattern sizes that will be drawn. Preparations of Marker Making Before the marker making, some preparatory processes would be followed. The processes are discussed ago (In preparatory processes chapter). Without those, some others preparations are * Marking Grain Line : Before marker making, the grain line of pattern and fabric must be marked. * Fabric Measurement : Before marker planning, the fabric must be measured carefully. Because, marker width is relevant to the minimum fabric width. * Fabric Faults : Fabric faults would be also under consideration. In a fabric roll, where any faults found, that points must be avoided for quality production and to least the fabric wastage. * Cutting Table : Marker planner should consider the cutting table length before making marker. Marker length must be less than the cutting table length. Constraints of Marker Making During marker making, the work of the marker planner is subjected to a number of constraints. These relate to i. The nature of the fabric and the desired result in the finished garment. ii. The requirements of quality in cutting. iii. The requirements of production planning. The nature of the fabric and the desired result in the finished garment * Pattern alignment in relation to the grain of the fabric, pattern pieces normally carry a grain line. When pattern pieces are laid down the piece of cloth, the grain line should lie parallel to the line of the warp in a woven fabric or the wales in a knitted fabric. Where pattern pieces are laid across the piece, the grain line should lie parallel to the weft or course direction. If the marker planner lays down a pattern outside the stated rules for grain lines, then the finished garment will not hang and drape correctly when worn. This requirement to follow the grain lines restricts the freedom of the marker planner in choosing how to lay the patterns in the marker. * Symmetry or Asymmetry Many fabrics can be turned round (through 180. ) and retain the same appearance are called symmetrical. They require no special attention during marker making. Asymmetrical fabrics are those which are turned (through 180. ) and do not retain the same appearance. Examples of such fabrics are pile which is brushed in one direction and which show different reflection of light. The marker should be planned in such a way that it is in accordance with symmetry, asymmetry of the fabric. All pattern pieces of a garment should be along the same direction when laid down on a symmetrical fabric. * Design characteristics of the finished garments If a vertical stripe does not show a complete mirror image repeat, the right and left sides of a garment may be mirror images of each other. In this case, a pattern should be placed on checks in such a way that the design matches when sewing up. During marker planning, a marker maker must have to think about matching the checks and stripes in a garment. His freedom is restricted here. So I think it? à ¦s a constraints for a marker maker. The Requirements of Quality in Cutting * For majority of cutting situations where a knife blade is used, the placements of the pattern pieces in the marker must give freedom of knife movement. A blade, which has width, cannot turn a perfect right angle in the middle of pattern piece and space must always be allowed for a knife to turn such corners. The amount of space depends on the actual cutting method employed. * Pattern count check that the complete menu of pattern has been included. * Correct labeling of cut garments parts is essential to identify correctly the garment parts for whole garment sizes. It is the responsibility of the marker planner to code every pattern pieces with its sizes as the marker is planned. The Requirements of Production Planning When an order placed for a quantity of garments, normally specifies a quantity of each size and colour. If the sewing room requires the cut work urgently, the marker may make two markers. 1. Short marker and 2. Long marker. * For long marker, it can be made according to the size proportion and different sizes. This process is very much efficient and takes more time and increased shade variation. * For short marker and for the particular order two marker can be made, this process is less efficient but takes less time and more production and small cutting table. For complex garments long markers generally offer more opportunities for savings than do short ones. * The more sizes that included in a marker, the greater are the scope for fabric savings. Greater fabric savings and after lower total cost would normally result, from cutting a stepped lay with paper markers on top. However, though for greater efficiency, a marker maker needs opportunity to work with freedom, but for maintainin g proper quality some criteria must be followed. That is why there are some constraints of marker making. Methods of Marker Making There are two methods of marker making. i. Manual method. ii. Computerized method. Here marker is produced in two ways. 1. Marker drawn directly on fabric lay. 2. Marker drawn on marker paper. EXPERIMENTAL METHODOLOGY In order to find out which method gives near 83 % efficiency, the data collected was analyzed by the means of statistical mathematics. 5 samples had to be selected from each; 1. Manual Marker Making 2. Computerized Marker Making The computerized Marker making will be further tested using 7 different computerized machines for making markers. In total there were 5 samples from manual and 35 samples from Computerized Marker Making which means that there were total 40 samples of markers. 75 yards of fabric was used to lay markers on them. Each technique and machine was given 175 yards of fabric and the total fabric utilized was 7000 yards. The experiment was done 200 times in order to get 5 samples from each technique and method. In order to find out the efficiency, there is a formula which calculates it. The formula is Area of the patterns X 100 Area of the marker Out of 200 samples 40 samples were selected through simple random selection. 5 samples were selected from manual marker and 35 samples were selected from computerized marker making. After sampling the results were put in the table and the mean of efficiency was calculated for the left out samples in order to find out how much efficiency at max could be given. RESULTS The 5 selected samples from each method and technique were taken out and their efficiency was calculated. After getting their efficiency they were put in the table to find out the mean efficiency produced by them. DISCUSSION OF THE RESULTS Lectra Because material savings are a fundamental factor for every apparel firm, Lectra has spent the last 25 years developing solutions that apply state-of-the-art technology for material optimisation. Diamino V4 is its latest computer assisted version which, when combined with Expert V4, provides an automatic marker-making tool that can handle all kinds of fabrics and generate entire markers or complete partially operator-processed markers. Lectra says its ââ¬Å"intelligent softwareâ⬠takes into account the specific requirements of different garments, fabrics and pattern pieces. Gerber Technology Maximizing fabric utilisation is not the only consideration of marker making: the time it takes is increasingly important too. Gerber Technology has modified its AccuMark and Micromark software to allow parts to be rotated according to specified laying and style rules. The grain line deviation can also be defined. For the actual automation of the marker production its software has been integrated with Nester Server. Nester Nester is available in two versions: NesterServer as an upgrade to CAD systems from Gerber, Assyst, Asahi, Toray, PAD and VetiGraph; and the Nester complete nesting system. This software tool automatically generates cost-effective markers for production, costing and engineering. It also combines automatic and semi-automatic options. The company claims Nesterââ¬â¢s return on investment is realised in under six months. Fabric savings with automatic nesting Nester Inc offers this real-life example of a sportswear manufacturer cutting $30 million of fabric annually. Four production markers were given to Nester to process automatically. On average, Nester generated layouts that were superior to CAD-based manual results by 1. 05 per cent. The average length used in the four markers was 714. 21 cm with Nester and 721. 85 cm with traditional CAD-based manual nesting. On average, NESTER outperformed a CAD operator by 7. 64 cm, or 1. 05 per cent. If this saving were extended over the entire marker population in this factory, 1. 05 per cent fabric savings would equate to $315,000 per annum. Pad Systems Although Pad Systemsââ¬â¢ software integrates with Nester, it also has its own automatic marker making system. Within this, individual pattern pieces are directly related to the base pattern piece, so any changes to the pattern are automatically reflected in the marker. This feature is important in a fast changing fashion industry where patterns may be modified several times throughout the development of a style. New markers are based on a similar, though previously manually made, marker of a comparable style and material. Thus Padââ¬â¢s automatic marker combines the original manual skill of the marker maker with the processing speed of the computer. This combination, the company explains, results in similar fabric utilisation but the new marker is achieved in a fraction of the time. Assyst Bullmer Assyst Bullmer no longer supplies automatic marker making software to its customers, explaining that automarker. com uses the most up-to-date software, is maintenance-free, and is available 24/7. On their own CAD systems customers define the width of marker, the sizes to plan and constraints such as whether rotation or twisting off grain is allowed. This is then sent to the website and the results download by the factory or sub contractor. Users include manufacturers in Eastern Europe where the comparable cost of manual lay planning on a CAD system would be low. Tukatech Tukatechââ¬â¢s automatic marker making facility is called Nest ++ and is of particular use in helping cater for overload or rush orders, for large ratio markers and to estimate the best efficiencies on many fabric widths during pre-production. Efficiencies are said to be comparable to manually placing pieces in the CAD system (approximately 1 to 3à per cent difference). Users can start a marker with manual placement and Nest++ will finish the job automatically. Benefits are said to include increases in material efficiency with subsequent decreases in material waste, time and labour savings in making markers; improvements in overall marker quality; tighter markers; avoidance of backlogs during peak periods; and fast, precise cost proposals for clients. FINDINGS After experimentation the GERBER machine, is the best in reducing waste and giving the more efficiency. It is better to install Gerber rather than installing any other experimented CAD machine. Manual should be eliminated as the system is very faulty and old. CONCLUSION In manual system the system is used to make maker for garment making is traditional. But in CAD system marker making is done in modern system. Marker efficiencies are not visible in manual system. Other hand, marker efficiency is visible in CAD system. Marker length is not visible in manual system while Marker length is visible in monitor screen at CAD system. In manual, once marker is made, it is not possible to increase its efficiency. But in CAD it is possible to increase the efficiency at any time possible which means that fabric can be saved. In manual if the marker is layed, nothing can be done about it. Marker copying is not possible manually, so it is very time consuming to trace each and every other marker out there. In CAD, by using Plotter as much as possible copy can be done. Manual marker making is very time consuming method whereas, CAD is a faster method. In manual system quality cannot be assured, sometimes markers can be good other times really faulty but in CAD, it has quality assurance. Even though manual system costing is low, CAD is expensive but the labour cost reduced saves cost in the long terms and since markers can be utilized again and again there is no special need of hiring a professional marker maker to make the atterns and lay them on fabrics. Out of all the CAD system Gerber turned out to be the best since it has an automatic efficiency calculator and it evens shows and tells that this much amount of fabric would be wasted if the efficiency percentage is low. Therefore, apparel industries are recommended to use Gerber as their primary source for making Patte rns and makers. APPENDIXES 1. The QIT ranks the 9th in the country for Nursing and the 42nd in the world for the same course. The QUT ranks 7th in Australia in the QS Graduate Employability Ranking by Subject in the year 2017 ("Home", 2017). Demand assessment, segmentation and target market: In the world today, the need for staying ahead of the curve than anybody else has become the utmost important need of the time. There is the presence of immense competition in every sector of the world. Students from all over the world need to be on top of the competitive race. The Queensland University of Technology offers many courses that are supportive of making the students ready for the practical world by providing them with relevant exposure, knowledge and experience (Jones et al., 2012). The market segmentation of the QUT is based on the demand of the vocational and professional courses that are offered by the university to the students. The market for the students preferring vocational courses is wide and has many scopes. The university ranks the 276th in the QS World University Rankings. Of the total student population, 85% comprises of the undergraduate student and 15% comprises of the postgraduate students (Gale Parker, 2013). About 54% of the undergraduate students and 46% of the postgraduate students are international students. The target market for the QUT is the group of students who aim for getting a vocational education so that they are well ahead in the competition(Curtin, 2017). Marketing mix analysis: The analysis of the four Ps of the marketing mix is necessary for understanding the method in which a new product or service is taken to the market. It is helpful in defining the market options in terms of price, product, place and promotion. This is requires so that the product or service that is offered, meets the expectation of a particular need or demand of the customer (Lozano et al., 2013). In this context, the four Ps of the QUT is essential for the analysis of the university. The price of the courses offered in the university is moderately high with the 2018 pay structure as follows: Unit/ Study Load Study Abroad tuition fee 3 units (36 credit points) A$7,743 4 units (48 credit points) A$10,324 5 units (60 credit points) A$12,905 Thus, it can be seen that the tuition fee of the institute is moderately high but is still affordable (Jones et al., 2012). The product here is the array of courses offered by the QUT. The courses offered at the QUT are mainly vocational based. It means that the courses are based on the real life practical knowledge, which helps the students to deal with the real life problems in the future (Kaiser et al., 2014). The courses that are offered by QUT include building and planning courses, business courses, creative design and performance courses, education courses, engineering courses, health and community courses, information and technology courses, English and pathway programs, Law and justice courses, and science and mathematics courses (Curtin, 2017). The university has three branches in three locations, namely, Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove and Caboolture. This means that the immense popularity and the varied range of courses that are offered in the QUT, attracts a lot of students which has made the management of the QUT to spread out the courses offered to the three branches so that the students can be accommodated (Armstrong et al., 2014). PEST Analysis: Political factors Economic factors Social factors Technological factors The existing government in Australia places importance on the education system. So, AUT can benefit greatly from the decision. The current economy is dwindling and thus, people are choosing for courses that can ensure a return on their investment (Christie Misson, 2012). QUT thus can attract many students owing to the practical courses that are offered. The need for practical knowledge based courses is important for the world of today (Krueger Casey, 2014) . Thus, the QUT has a positive point in the section of social factors. The QUT has a lot of scope for introducing many technological innovations in its system. The institute already is very much in tune with the technology that is prevalent worldwide (Christie Misson, 2012). Brand and value positioning In the day and age of today, QUT positions highly in the education market solely because it offers such a wide range of courses that are based on practical knowledge. It prepares the students for the real, practical world. It is running a sustainable business as the need for courses that impart practical knowledge and ensures a job is going to be popular amongst the students at all times (Christie Misson, 2012). The uniqueness of the brand of QUT lies in the massive range of courses that are offered. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said conclusively that the Queensland University of Technology offers a great variety of practical knowledge to the students, which is imparted through the array of courses that are offered by the university. There are about 12,983 staffs in the institute, which denotes the huge popularity of the educational institute. The total revenue gathered by the university in the year 2014 was $ 907 million. With the current economic scenario, such practical knowledge based courses are the order of the day. The university prepares the students to take on the challenges of the real world. Innovation in Banking Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Innovation in Banking - Essay Example The purpose of this paper is to explore the technological determinist view of banking and the way in which it is causing changes in the society and customer behavior. The term technological determinism was first coined by Veblen, a sociologist in America and had later recurred in the works of a number of researchers. The fundamental idea behind technological determinism is that technology cannot be influenced by cultural and political forces as it has its own predictable and traceable path. Researchers have also suggested that once a technology has been introduced then it begins to show its effect on the society and the society supports further technological development. Though technological determinism has received its own share of criticisms, it remains as one of the most popular concepts of the 19th century. Technological determinism has been pointed as the key source that is driving competition in the global market in the present era. According to the research conducted by Chandl er, it has been found that technological determinism is the main reason that causes historical and social changes at a macro and social level. It was also pointed out in his research that technological determinism has the power to produce psychological influences on the minds of the consumers. According to the research conducted by Smith and Marx, it was established that technology can act as a major driver leading the path in which organizations and society are expected to behave in the future as successive innovations are introduced in the society.

Does globalisation explain the crisis in European Welfare states Essay
Does globalisation explain the crisis in European Welfare states - Essay Example There is nothing much in common between the welfare regimes of major nations in the Western Europe as they function under varieties of capitalism. Of course, globalisation has certain effects on the welfare states in Europe, especially Britain and France. The increasingly intense economic competition from the new economic giants such as India and China has undermined the capabilities of the European states in retaining their economically less viable welfare measures. However, the extent of spending cuts and reduction in welfare provisions in the United Kingdom and France shows that it is the erosion of political consensus than economic necessities driving the current ââ¬Ërolling back of the welfare stateââ¬â¢. The paper intends to argue that although globalisation has catalysed the process of shrinking of welfare state, it is not an adequate explanation for the grand scale reduction in spending on social security. For the purpose, it would examine the major turning points in th e history welfare state in Europe such as the oil crisis, the abandoning of gold standard, erosion of post war consensus on welfare and so on. Spending Cuts Going Ideological Globalisation is not simply about economic changes. The very beginning of globalisation was marked by the collapse of Soviet Union and the consequent rise of neoliberal orthodoxy and market fundamentalism. More than the economic crisis, it is the collapse of an ideologically coherent leftist politics that helps the neoliberal governments to go on with their anti-people politics of cuts. It is especially true in the case of Britain and France as the economic polices of these countries increasingly subsidise the super rich at the expense of ordinary tax payers. One could bear in mind that how eagerly the government in Britain bailed out big banks at the time of recession. It is ironical the same governments do not find funds for conserving vital community services such as schools and hospitals. In France and Brit ain, it is not difficult to see that economic polices are predominantly favouring the finance capital and speculators. The increasing homogenisation of political parties in terms of economic polices too is a reason for the rolling back of welfare regimes. For instance, in Britain, both the Labour party and the Conservative party prefer the same course correction measure to ââ¬Ërecoverââ¬â¢ the economy. Needless to say, such economic policies are derived from neoliberalism and Washington Consensus which ideologically opposes any kind of subsides to the poor and the weaker sections of the society. Globalisation has helped the transnational consolidation of elites who want to divert the economic resources for the welfare of the rich. Once could call it socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor. This consolidation is especially facilitated by the rise of far right groups in the United States, Britain and France. The Floating Currencies The invention of floating currencies was the beginning of the making economic globalisation. On August 15, 1971, the United States withdraw from the Bretton Woods system and it marked the end of Gold Exchange Standard. Here, the US dollar achieved the status of the exchange standard and became a floating currency. Britain also had to switch to floating system. Then, most of the countries of the West had followed the same. The difference is that in the new system each currency has to constantly fix

The Importance Of The Air We Breathe Environmental Sciences Essay
The Importance Of The Air We Breathe Environmental Sciences Essay Almost all life on earth depends upon clean to function and survive. However, when the air we breathe in becomes polluted, we to become polluted. Polluted with harmful toxins, germs, viruses, etc. Some may wonder, Well, what exactly is air pollution? Air pollution is the presence in the air of one or more solid, liquid, or gaseous substances in such a concentration and of such duration as to cause a nuisance or to be injurious to human life, animal life and vegetation or disrupt the functioning of the environment (Dimitriou, Christidou, 2007). This means that air pollution could be anything from car exhaust inhaled while behind an old station wagon in traffic, to a room filled with bleach fumes. These are just a few of the many ways our air can be poisoned. While this may seem like small potatoes to someone or be an issue that can wait, the numbers dont lie. The average person breathes in about 2,200 2,400 gals of air, in order to exchange oxygen for carbon dioxide with 2,200 2,70 0 gals of blood. This requires processing (at the very least) 4,400 gallons of liquid gas daily for life (Gorman, 2006). Now think about 2,200 gals of polluted air going into the human body daily! All of a sudden the issue of air pollution seems a lot more important doesnt it? In fact air pollution not only effects our current generation but also the future generations as well. Since about 1995, the number of studies linking air pollutants to prenatal problems such as LBW, SGA, preterm birth and cardiac birth defects has grown rapidly (Ritz Wilhelm, 2008). This means if the amount of air pollution isnt drastically reduced right now, we could be staring down the barrel of terminally ill children straight out of the womb. However, air pollution issues wont stop there. One of air pollutions cohorts is currently running loose on the world. This cohort goes by the name of lung disease. Over the last couple of years, cases of lung disease have sharply risen in the United States and spre ad globally. Its become so prevalent, that it has already reached #3 on the top 10 list of killers in the U.S. Lung disease causes a whopping 1 out of every 7 deaths! When that number is tallied the actual number is very sad and disappointing. Millions upon millions of people are suffering because of this disease caused by air pollution. Not only is air pollution causing lives, its also costing out cash strapped economy a lot of money. Lung disease in the United States alone, cost the economy $81.6 billion dollars in direct health care cost every year, plus tack on indirect costs of $76.2 billion dollars, and youre staring down the barrel of a total of more than $157.8 billion dollars in expenses (Gorman, 2006). The story just seems to get sadder and sadder as time progresses. However, there is still hope if society can become properly educated about air pollution. This research paper will attempt to do just that. Sources of Air Pollution Air Pollution can be caused by simple everyday things ranging from car exhaust stoves, to more complicated things such as factory emissions. One by product of these method of pollution is referred to fine particle pollution. Fine particle air pollution consists of microscopic particles of dust soot that are about 30 xs smaller than the width of a single human hair! So what can a few particles of dust do to a full grown person? Turns out these little problems can cause major life altering illnesses. According to a four-year study in AORN journal, researcher found that minute increases in fine particle air pollution resulted in significantly increased hospital visits for heart and vascular disease, heart failure, pulmonary disease, etc (2006). Now this is just an example of what one source of air pollution can do to the human body. Lets look at more. Formaldehyde is a common source of air pollution. In fact formaldehyde has been such a nuisance to the clean air cause that the EPA deemed it a human carcinogen. Despite this finding from a very trusted source, it continues to be widely used in the manufacturing of construction materials, furniture, and can also be found in paneling, cabinets, walls, textiles, floors, etc. One cant help but notice the places that the places previously listed are inside the home! This means that dangerous toxins are all around us and could be polluting our air right now. If its not bad enough to think of living with a harmful substance-think about the possibility of wearing one. Formaldehyde is also key ingredient used to produce permanent-press clothing. All of these products can off gas slowly seep) formaldehyde, therefore deteriorating indoor air quality (Royal, 1998). This segways into another type of air pollution thats often ignored-indoor air pollution. In third world countries around the world gas or electric stoves arent readily available. Therefore the majority of the population uses wood burning stoves. How does a wood stove cause indoor air pollution one may ask. Well, wood smoke is actually far more dangerous than tobacco smoke in some cases. Tobacco smoke (another source of air pollution that will be discussed next) causes damage inside the body for roughly thirty seconds after it is introduced into the body. Wood smoke on the other hand can damage cells inside the body for twenty minutes. Thats almost forty times longer than tobacco smoke! (Henkle, Mandzuk, Emergy, Schrowe, Sevilla-Martir, 2010). However, tobacco smoke is by far a more common source of air pollution and perhaps the oldest. Oldest? Yes, people were lighting up long before Phillip Morris was founded. Everyone from ancient Indians to famous explorers lit up. Modern times are no different as it seems not one day can pass with someone seeing a smoker. Perhaps smokers would reconsider their habit if they knew what they were putting into their bodies and a the air. When smoked, the tobacco and additives in a cigarette undergo complex chemical processes to form smoke that contains more than four thousand chemicals. Forty-three constituents of tobacco smoke are known carcinogens including ammonia, formaldehyde, arsenic, hydrogen cyanide, etc (Cigarette Litter -Filters. n.d.). Thats four thousand chemicals getting into your lungs and the atmosphere. So as you can see from the previous few lines, cigarette smoke is a key player in the air pollution game. However, sadly with every cause thats been listed, there must be a n equal or more devastating effect. Health Effects of Breathing Polluted Air The real cost of air pollution cannot be measured until the health cost are factored in. Too much air pollution can make anyones life a living hell. Why? Well because substantial exposure to air pollution can have drastically negative effects on an individuals overall well being. For example if a person inhaled too much car exhaust, tobacco smoke, factory smoke, etc they would be at risk for the following ailments: Major lung diseases include chronic bronchitis, sarcoidosis, emphysema interstitial lung disease, asthma, and other types of COPD. There are more than twenty eight other classified lung diseases, including, lung cancer, necrotizing and other forms of pneumonia, pleural effusions, asbestosis, pulmonary edema, pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, and rheumatoid lung disease (Gorman, 2006). With such a long list of ailments attributed to air pollution its no wonder the Institute of Medicine suggest that indoor air pollutants may lead to the development of a variety of diseases and symptoms, including allergies, asthma, central nervous system effects, infection, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, mucosal irritation, inhalation fevers,,, psychological effects, dermatitis, and some forms of cancer (Barnes, Fisher, Postma, Harnish, Butterfield, Hill, 2010). Pregnancy may constitute a period of human development particularly susceptible to toxins contained in air pollution because of high cell proliferation, organ development and the changing capabilities of fetal metabolism (Ritz Wilhelm, 2008) For example, reports by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) estimated the contribution of environmental pollutants to the incidence, prevalence, mortality, and costs of four pediatric diseases in American children. Most increases in admissions occurred on the same day as the change in air pollution level, suggesting that there was a short time period between the change in air pollution and the physiological response of the participants (2006) The presence in the atmosphere of solid, gaseous or liquid substances emitted by natural sources or as a result of human activities (for example the use of solvents, paints, varnishes and fossil fuels) damages human health, animal life and vegetation, as well as the balance of the ecosystem. Climate change and acid rain are among the consequences of air pollution (Dimitriou, Christidou, 2007) Acid rain is a broad term; it refers to a complex chemical and atmospheric phenomenon that occurs when emissions of nitrogen or sulphur dioxides react in the atmosphere with water and oxygen, forming a mild solution of sulphuric and nitric acids that are then deposited as rain. The ecological effects are most clearly seen in aquatic environments, such as streams, lakes and marshes. These and the surrounding soil become acidic and as a result aluminum is released from the soil into the water. Aluminum is highly toxic to many species of the aquatic organisms leading to the loss of biodiversity (Dimitriou, Christidou, 2007). Preventive Measures that Can Reduce Exposure to Air Pollution Prevention Quit smoking; do not frequent places where there is a lot of second hand smoke, Check the quality of air in your community. Contact the local EPA for more information. Test for radon gas in your home. Use indoor air filters in rooms where you spend the most time. Reduce the amount of energy you consume to reduce fossil fuel consumption. Do not exercise in areas of high pollution. If you work in a high-risk job, take precautions to protect your lungs. Use-masks or filters, and take frequent breaks to get a few deep breaths of cleaner air (Gorman, 2006). Studies have calculate that if air pollution was limited the stats for certain diseases would drop 100% for lead poisoning, 30% for asthma, 5% for cancer, and 10% for neuro behavioral disorders. Total costs to society (direct medical costs and indirect societal costs, such as lost work days) w e re estimated to range from 48.8 billion to 64.8 billion dollars (Barnes, Fisher, Postma, Harnish, Butterfield, Hill, 2010)

My Ideal Classroom Essay
Essay on my ideal classroom set up for elementary school children. My ideal classroom is not entirely, but almost based on fun. My main objective is to have kids come into my class room and feeling that Ms. Englishââ¬â¢s classroom is a whole lot of fun. Not only do I want my classroom to be fun, but I also want it to be a special place for all of my children. My ideal classroom would have all of the services for all of my children to learn, grow, and thrive. At the same time, I want my classroom to be simple and not too busy. I feel a busy classroom tends to make children feel overwhelmed and more easily distracted. As far as seating arrangements go I would have to be with my class for at least a full week to figure out the configurations of the classroom. I would most likely situate the children in a group format so that they can socialize and interact with each other. I would form this group configuration based on my observations on who works well together and where the distractions originate from etc. My desk would be situated where I could see all of my students. If I were to get a Kindergarten classroom I would probably situate the seats in a group setting or large tables. If I had a third grade classroom I would definitely have a big group meeting mat where everyone can gather around during class meetings. I would also make sure to have comfortable chairs and a big couch for children to grab books and read. I want my students to have a comfortable place where they can read and relax. This furniture would be situated right next to my library area. I would have a huge library for my students. The bigger the library, the more books and you can never have enough books in a classroom. I would also have a computer center in my classroom. I feel that children need many tools in order to learn and grow. Even though a computer is a machine, I feel that it is a vital part of the classroom. I would hope to have at least two computers for my students to work on. Some children do not have access to computers at home and I think that they are a huge tool for a childââ¬â¢s success. They also bring in technology in the classroom which is important. Next to the computer station I would love to have a science center where children can work directly with their hands. I want a ââ¬Å"hands-onâ⬠center where children can try new things and learn about animals and plants etc. I think it would be fun for my students to learn and at the same time just ââ¬Å"foolâ⬠around with all the neat science ââ¬Å"stuff. â⬠A ââ¬Å"quietâ⬠area is another part of my ideal classroom. I think a quiet area would be very beneficial for my students. I would try and enclose a couple of desks off in a corner with bookshelves for any children who need some alone or work time. My classroom would also have many visuals. I want every part of my classroom to be learning aides. The children should learn from what I put on the walls. I would have many signs up for the different centers and put up the alphabet (in Murray format of course), drawings, pictures, colors, numbers, shapes, basically everything to cater to the grade level that I teach. I would also make sure that I cater to any of the special needs students that I probably will have. This write up of my ideal classroom is obviously not perfect; however, I feel that it is an adequate sketch of how I would visualize my own classroom. I think being in the actual environment, and getting to know your students, along with learning from experience on what works and what doesnââ¬â¢t is what will help me set up my classroom.
